I arrived at work a little early yesterday. I had some time to read James Altucher's blog. His post that day was called Kissing Ruined My Life. It wasn't really about kissing . It was about the pitfalls that can arise from wanting something too much. Kissing was either a euphemism for sex, or just a proxy for things that are inordinately desired.

I haven't posted much about the stock market lately because I haven't been involved in it for a while. But I, like many many  other people, bought some Facebook stock. I'm happy to say I was smart enough not to buy it on the opening day. I felt sure the price would be pumped up before the markets even opened. I found out a while back that there is a rumor going around the students here that I used to be married and my wife died. I'm not sure how it got started. I told a colleague about it, and she said she first heard it back when my mother died, and students thought it was my wife. I had lunch with Elle yesterday, and for some reason the topic of lunchtime discussion was elephants. I'm pretty sure Elle brought it up. She had read a book a while back called When Elephants Weep, and she had recently come across another story about the trials of elephants in captivity.

There is a DVD of the 2006 version of All The Kings Men in my refrigerator.

I did some prank thefts in my youth. A couple of times I stole name plates from bank tellers. I would go into the bank during the winter wearing a coat, rest my arm on the counter, and when the teller wasn't looking slide the name plate into the sleeve.
